They are deliberately designed to be different in their character and so offer people a choice in the style of worship. <BR><BR>Both services start at 10.00am. The Methodist Worship, which is more traditional in character is always held in the church. Those attending are seated in rows of chairs and the service is led by a Minister or Local Preacher. It follows a traditional pattern with prayers, a sermon and hymns, which would be accompanied by the organ.&nbsp;<BR>In contrast,&nbsp;<FONT color=#000080>Contemporary Worship</FONT> <IMG border=0 hspace=20 alt="" vspace=10 align=left src="../graphics/Contempworship.jpg" width=400 height=199>(<FONT color=#000080>See Below</FONT>) is much more informal and less structured and includes a certain amount of interaction. It is led by a Minister or Local Preacher working with a Worship Leader. It is very family friendly and young people are drawn to it. It takes place in the small hall, with members sitting in groups around circular tables. Much greater use is made of modern songs, though some hymns may also be sung. The music is provided by a band or by backing tracks. There is also much more emphasis on visual material and much of the service is projected on to a screen. There is usually opportunity to discuss aspects of the theme being presented by the preacher in the small groups in which people are seated. This attempts to link the preaching to every day life situations and so highlight its relevance and significance. <BR><BR>Some people always attend Methodist Worship, others usually choose to go to the Contemporary Service; while others might generally go to one, but occasionally to the other. Methodist Worship still attracts the greater number of the congregation, but the whole age range of the church is found at the Contemporary Service. At each Holy Communion is celebrated, and parents have the choice at which service they would want their child baptized. <BR><BR>Once a month the two congregations meet as one in the church, when Worship Together takes place. This is 'all-age' worship, but is also an expression of the fact that we are one church.
